About us
A brief history
For fifty years, this polish restaurant has woven itself into the fabric of Old Montreal.
Stash Café is a traditional restaurant with a timeless menu, faithful to the secrets of
the polish kitchen.
Although it was founded in 1972 by Stanislaw Pruszynski, after whom the restaurant is
named (Stash being short for Stanislaw), it has been owned and managed by polish
women since 1978. What was at the beggining a modest flea market where artists and
artisans would gather, rapidly became a successfull restaurant. Requiring a larger
venue, the restaurant moved to 461 St-Sulpice, in the shade of the Notre-Dame
Basilica.
After a historic building next to the restaurant was levelled by a fire, Stash Café
relocated with all its convent furnishings to this lovely corner in the quieter sector of
Le Vieux. Now a well known establishment where music, comforting food and family
atmosphere charm the hearts of locals as well as tourists.
